Rules of Entry
1). How to submit your entry
There will be an entry fee of £10 which will allow you to enter up to 5 photographs in any of the ten categories. All entry fees will go directly to the charity Hertfordshire Action on Disabilty.
You may send your photos either online or by post and pictures can be either digital images or prints.
Online entries
Images should be sent as high resolution .jpeg attachments in an email to email@imagesofherts.co.uk with "Photo Competition Entry" in the subject line. Please also include your name and how you can be contacted.
Further information, such as date of taking, time of the day, setting, atmosphere or similar information should also be provided. This will provide the context and help the judges make their decisions.
Entries must be original, have a title and information about where in Hertfordshire the photo was taken and when. The title of a picture must contain the photographer's name, image name, location where image was taken and number of the picture (1 to 2) (e.g. FirstnameLastname_Cathedral_at_dusk_StAlbans_1.jpg). Postal entries

2). Participation fee and organizer
There will be an entry fee of £10 which will allow you to enter up to 5 photographs in any of the ten categories. All entry fees will go directly to the charity Hertfordshire Action on Disabilty.
The organisers of the competition are Virtual PA Plus.
The competition is open to photographers of all ages, amateurs and professionals alike.
All entries must be received by the EXTENDED closing date of July 31st 2009.
The photographs submitted MUST have been taken in Hertfordshire, and the photographer MUST be a resident of Hertfordshire.
3). Motifs and evaluation
The competition will be divided into ten categories.
Staff and immediate family members of Virtual PA Plus and Hertfordshire Action on Disability are not eligible to enter the competition.
There will be a top prize of £1000 worth of camera equipment for overall "Best Photograph" (see Prizes).
In addition, the top ten photographs in each Category will be published in a unique photographic commemorative book.
All entries will be displayed on the Images of Herts website.
No cash alternatives to the prizes will be offered.
Decisions taken by the jury are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4). Copyright, liability and mailing
The photographer must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all pictures submitted.
We attach importance to natural, non-manipulated pictures; therefore subsequent modification of the picture or its information is not permitted. However, standard picture-editing processes such as moderate re-sizing etc are allowed.
By participating in this competition, the photographer agrees that his/her photograph may be used, free of charge, by Virtual PA Plus, in exhibitions and publications of the organisers. The photographer will be named in every publication. COPYRIGHT OF THE PHOTOGRAPH WILL REMAIN WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER.
5). Winners Announcements
We will contact the winners in August 2009 and the winning images will be posted on the Images of Herts website.
